SCINEMA first screened in Canberra in 2001, organised by staff from CSIRO’s National Awareness Program. The festival screened over one week in May at Canberra’s stately Center Cinema and CSIRO Discovery Centre. In 2002, the festival continued under the direction of staff from the National Museum of Australia. SCINEMA 2003 is a partnership between staff from CSIRO Communication and the National Museum of Australia, run by Rebecca Scott and Cris Kennedy from CSIRO, and Damian Harris and Jodie Cunningham from NMA. SCINEMA 2004 will screen at the NMA during National Science Week 2004, and will be a competitive festival featuring documentary, television, film and multimedia.
