Gene technology for decision-makers course

CSIRO's gene technology for decision-makers course offers a balanced, comprehensive and hands-on course for all who are interested in gene technology, regardless of background or previous knowledge.

Gene technology is a rapidly developing field of science that is driving a revolution in plant breeding, insect and weed control and yield improvements.

CSIRO's gene technology for decision-makers course provides a balanced, comprehensive and hands-on introduction for anyone interested in gene technology, regardless of background or previous knowledge.

The course explains the science behind gene technology, provides hands-on lab experience, and covers the ethical, regulatory and commercial issues that modern technology raises.

Course costs

The gene technology for decision-makers course price includes:

  • a comprehensive manual of lectures and laboratory sessions
  • access to scientific expertise
  • hands-on lab work
  • full catering comprising:
    • morning and afternoon tea
    • lunch
    • a three-course dinner (first day of the two-day course only) during which participants can chat with experts and have their questions answered in a panel session
  • post-course information support.

The course cost varies depending on the number of participants. For Canberra-based courses, the costs including GST are:

  • A$770-990 per person (two-day course)
  • A$440 per person (one-day course).

Minimum numbers apply to all courses. Contact us for more information on the cost for group registrations.

Courses can also be held outside Canberra. If you would like a course at or near your location, costs for travel for lecturers, demonstrators, equipment and facility hire must be added to the course fee. Contact us for a quote.

Course dates

The gene technology for decision-makers course is held according to demand. The number of participants per course ranges between 15 and 24 people. Courses can be run over one or two days to cater to your needs.
