Protecting Australia's crops against pathogens
Diseases caused by plant pathogens have significant economic impacts on Australia's crop production. In order to safeguard Australian crop production, broader strategies of disease management represent an important component of our approach. In addition to our work in identifying genetic solutions a focus of our work is to identify novel solutions for disease control.
Our response
Helping plants resist attack
Developing a better understanding of interactions between plants and pathogens can reveal novel targets for disease management. More specifically, we are looking to understand how plants identify pathogens after invasion and to develop a deeper understanding of molecular mechanisms of disease resistance and fungal pathogenicity.
The case studies below provide an overview of a wide range of approaches of studies covering both plant as well the pathogen development.
