NSW Skills for Net Zero engages, matches and connects talented tertiary students 
with paid internship opportunities at workplaces to help NSW achieve net zero.

This initiative is your opportunity to be paid to work on a real‑world decarbonisation project. 
You’ll be mentored by industry experts and contribute to the transition to net zero in NSW.

From engineers and scientists to accountants and policy advisors, the path to net zero spans all 
sectors. Use your qualification to join the growing workforce helping NSW to reach net zero!

As a net zero intern you can gain: 

access to a minimum of 
200 hours work experience

a minimum of $25 an hour 
plus super with the security of 
a formal employment contract

CSIRO team for the duration 
of the placement

host workplace to provide 
meaningful support 
and training

Eligibility 

NSW Skills for Net Zero is designed for tertiary students who 
are passionate about making a difference and working towards 
net zero. To be eligible, you must:

be NSW-based VET or university student 
in your penultimate or final year of study 
in a relevant qualification at Certificate IV, 
Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor or 
Honours level with a credit‑average or higher

not currently have a placement 
opportunity (paid or unpaid) with 
the host workplace

be an Australian citizen or resident, 
currently living in NSW and able to 
enter an employment contract.
