Sharing Stories of Success

This facilitated online dialogue enables CREST Awards teachers to share their experiences with others, and hear about others' experiences with inquiry.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Thursday 28 March 2019: 17:00 - 18:00 OR 18:30 - 19:30 (AEDT)

Registration will open a month before the webinar.

Developing an Inquiry

This full day, face-to-face workshop is for teachers looking to develop a suitable Green or Orange CREST Award investigation for their students to undertake. Building on teachers' own stimuli and understandings of science, they will design, test, and refine an inquiry procedure and develop an exemplar explanation for the results. This inquiry may be adapted for a published Green or Orange CREST Award investigation.

Upcoming Dates and Locations:

  • Brisbane: Saturday 30 March 2019: 09:00 - 15:00 (AEST)

Registration will open a month before the workshop.

Moving Towards Open Inquiry with the CREST Awards Program

This workshop is for teachers who would like to build confidence for facilitating open inquiry in their STEM classrooms. Teachers will explore the 5Es framework for planning inquiry units, strategies for finding and refining inquiry questions, a scaffold for constructing explanations, and a framework for reflecting on their own experiences and practices, which may be tailored for student use.

Locations and dates for this workshop will be announced in early 2019.

Introduction to Inquiry in Technology and Engineering

This workshop is for teachers interested in exploring key ideas, frameworks and processes for teaching technology and engineering, aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Technologies (including Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies). It will identify a wide variety of appropriate contexts for technology and engineering inquiries, and outline criteria for selecting contexts. Additionally, it unpacks reasons for encouraging girls and women to pursue careers in technologies and engineering, and establish principles for including and enabling girls in technology and engineering inquiries.

Locations and dates for this workshop will be announced in early 2019.
