Registered CREST teachers can explore and download inquiries aligned with the Australian Curriculum, practical and useful scaffolds and other support resources to help facilitate students' inquiries.

Inquiry in the Classroom

CREST provides resources to support teachers and students undertaking inquiry in the classroom. These include:

  • Teacher and student guidance for Green CREST Award inquiries in science and technology
  • Teacher and student guidance for Orange CREST Award inquiries in science and technology
  • Teacher or student stimuli for Blue CREST Award inquiries in science and technology
  • Student planners or proposals for Blue, Bronze, Silver and Gold CREST Award inquiries in science or technology
  • Checklists for monitoring and facilitating Bronze, Silver and Gold CREST Award inquiries in science or technology
  • Rubrics for assessing all CREST Award inquiries, from Green through to Gold Awards in science and technology
  • Award Overviews to describe the requirements of Bronze, Silver and Gold CREST Award inquiries in science or technology.

Support for Students

In addition to a Student Handbook that explains CREST to students, CREST provides resources to support students to engage with and explore key science inquiry skills and understandings called Student Snapshots. Example Student Snapshots include:

  • Choosing a Topic
  • Interpreting Data
  • Writing a Scientific Report.

All available Student Snapshots are downloadable from CREST Online.

Support for Teachers

In addition to a Teacher Handbook that explains CREST and how it can support teachers and students in the classroom, CREST also provides support for teachers in the form of Snapshots. Example Snapshots include:

  • Finding Questions for Inquiry
  • Preparing Students to Undertake Inquiry using the 5Es
  • The Engineering and Design Process.

These are often distributed at Teacher Professional Learning workshops but may also be downloaded from CREST Online.
