Find out what's involved as part of STEM CPP.

Students are invited to participate in STEM inquiry based projects to address challenges faced by the communities and are given privileged access to a variety of local STEM businesses and role models, providing valuable insight into local STEM pathways.

The project draws on the following three education programs:

  • The CSIRO Creativity in Research, Engineering, Science and Technology (CREST) Award’s open inquiry learning empowers students to identify and define a problem, generate the question they want to answer and to design an investigation to answer their question.
  • The CSIRO STEM Professionals in Schools program facilitates partnerships between teachers and STEM professionals to bring real STEM into the classroom.
  • STEM programs in the Hunter region create partnerships between schools and industry, facilitating work placements that provide students with exposure to local STEM jobs and hands-on work experience, ultimately fostering a long term partnership between local schools and local employers.
