To drive innovation and to meet Australia’s future job needs, we need an increase in STEM skills. By connecting schools with industry, STEM Professionals in Schools is equipping teachers with the skills they need to boost STEM education in the classroom, and beyond.

We are currently undergoing a digital revolution and STEM literacy is even more critical. For example, a number of studies have predicted that up to 40 per cent of current roles will be impacted by automation in the next 10 years and that many jobs that our current students will do haven’t been invented yet!

To drive innovation and to meet Australia’s future job needs, we need an increase in STEM skills.

Studies have also shown that people with STEM skills are more flexible, creative and will be able to take advantage of a changing workplace and new jobs. In order to ensure Australia has a workforce that has the appropriate skills to meet future jobs and contribute to economic growth, it’s critical to inspire young people to continue the development of their STEM skills.

By connecting industry with schools, teachers and students are exposed to the relevance of STEM in everyday life. STEM Professionals in Schools increases teachers’ confidence and encourages students to consider STEM as a future career path, which will be essential to meet Australia’s future economic growth and productivity.
