We are looking at how the virus survives on various surfaces at a range of temperatures and humidity. We’re also looking at the various ways to make the virus inactive using both laboratory techniques but also other methods.

In partnership with Australian Department of Defence, we are undertaking virus survivability studies in collaboration with the 5 Nation Research and Development (5RD) Council.

This research is aimed at better understanding how SARS-COV2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, can survive a range of different surfaces and how it is impacted by environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. We’re also evaluating various methods of decontamination and inactivation of the virus.

Each country is conducting research on different aspects of virus survivability. The work is still in its early stages, however results will be shared more widely as they become available.
