About the placement
This internship is with R&D Technology and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.
In this role you will gain exposure to end to end engineering processes, looking at the full lifecycle of electrical system development. You will be involved in a number of tasks working with the team to evaluate existing electrical designs, review client needs, and develop tailored solutions. You’ll draft designs using AutoCAD, liaise with customers and internal departments, support commissioning, conduct compliance checks against Australian standards, and occasionally test electronic equipment. This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to project management, materials coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.
Work arrangements
- Start date: January/February 2026
- Working arrangement: 2-3 days per week (8.5 hours/day with 30 min lunch break) for 200 hours on a fixed term contract, with the possibility for further employment for the right candidate
- Remuneration: $35.00/hour plus super on a temporary contract with R&D Technology
- Location: Cardiff, NSW
Desired capabilities
- Currently studying an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering
- Ability to work independently and ask questions
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both clients and colleagues
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools
- Interest in compliance and working with Australian Standards
Requirements
- Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate or TAFE qualification.
