About the placement

You will work with experienced scientists to develop cutting edge solar technologies. Utilising your understanding of chemistry you will conduct experiments to determine the characterisation of Perovskite solar cells and potential fabrication techniques. You will directly be contributing to Greatcell’s research and development, progressing their experimental technology to develop Roll-2-Roll technology.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: April/May 2024
  • Working arrangement: 200 hours, part time or full time. Details can be discussed with the business, Greatcell Energy.
  • Remuneration: $25/hour on a temporary contract with the business.
  • Location: Bomen, NSW

Desired capabilities

  • Safe laboratory skills
  • Experience with writing experimental procedures
  • Experience with technical reporting
  • Data Processing
  • Understanding of Chemistry (completed Chemistry 1A and 1B)
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification at the time of the placement.

About the Business

Halocell Australia is doing research & development on Perovskite solar cells, with the aim of being one of the first in the world to commercialise the technology for indoor/low light applications such a IoT devices. We currently hold the world record efficiency for low light modules, beating the performance of currently available cells by a factor of 4. We are currently TRL 6, with a rapidly advancing development program with the aim of producing these cells on a fully automated Roll-2-Roll line. Our young and enthusiastic team of scientists and engineers in Bomen, NSW are dedicated to hard work and innovative solutions to problems.
