About the placement

This internship is with Concept Paints and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

You will work with an experienced team to test a novel technology that will be able to identify the specific specs of different automotive paint. Using your knowledge in physics, light and colour you will scan, test and import data of different paint samples, helping to develop and improve the AI technology that will analyse and backward engineer these paint samples.

This role has the potential for long term employment for the right candidate.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: September/October
  • Working arrangement: Part time for 200 hours on a fixed term contract, possibility of extension
  • Remuneration: $25/hour on a temporary contract with the Concept Paints.
  • Location: St Mary’s, NSW

Desired capabilities

  • Studying Science qualification such as physics, chemistry or engineering.
  • Understanding of spectrometry beneficial.
  • Understanding of theoretical optics beneficial.
  • Understanding of experimental design.
  • Good problem solving.
  • Good communication and team work.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
