As part of National Science Week, we have prepared a collection of over 50 curriculum-aligned learning activities for teachers of Foundation – Year 6 students.
This collection has been prepared by Australian-based educators working with our researchers. Activities align to the 8.4 Australian Curriculum.
We have included resources such as printouts, blank templates and links to videos that teachers can use to enhance their lessons.
Learning topic: Glass and the circular economy
This year's National Science Week theme is "Glass: More than meets the eye". Our learning activities relate to what happens to glass once it is used, and how it and other materials, can contribute to a circular economy.
A 'circular economy' focuses not only on how to reduce waste, but how reuse, recycling and responsible manufacturing can reduce emissions, increase efficient use of natural resources (including energy, water and materials) and support the development of new industries.
As a topic for schools, it aligns with key elements of the science curriculum as well as the ‘sustainability’ cross curriculum priority.
