Coach and Team Assistant Registration

Registration Dates

Open on Monday, 3 April 2023 and close on Friday, 9 June 2023.

Coaches are officially affiliated adults approved by a participating school or organisation to act as the administrative lead of a CyberTaipan team. Team assistants are required to register alongside a coach.

Team registration is a separate process — coaches are not required to have teams assembled prior to registering below. The details for this process will be sent to approved (child safe checked) coaches directly.

Coaches are responsible for the following:

ensuring competitor safety
protecting competition integrity
acting as the point of contact for their team(s).

Team assistants support coaches by:

supporting and encouraging teams
assisting with scheduling, set-up, snacks, and transportation.

Working with Children Checks

A valid Working with Children Check or exemption is required for all team coaches and team assistants. Legislation around these checks are slightly different in each state. You may know this check as a 'Working with Vulnerable People Registration' (ACT), or a 'Blue Card' (QLD). Information on these checks and the requirements needed to fulfil them can be found on the Australian Institute of Family Studies website .

Team coaches and team assistants are required to complete our Child Safe Check requirements to finalise their registration. Participants must hold an exemption or successfully complete a Working with Children Check (or equivalent) before being approved.

Evidence of either/both of these Checks must be uploaded via the below form. If you do not have one/both of these Checks, the Program Office will be in contact to begin an application with you.

Administration and evaluation of CyberTaipan

CSIRO will be evaluating the CyberTaipan competition. As part of the evaluation CSIRO will use your registration data to review program participation. CSIRO may also invite you after completion of the competition to participate in a voluntary online survey to provide feedback about your experience.
