Background
The challenge
Smartstream educates medical practitioners on the benefits and uses of Qlicksmart's safety products so they can be embedded into safety systems within medical facilities. The company's vision was to develop an interactive training and educational programme to improve medical practitioner engagement. It would also help their sales representatives promote the advantages of the Qlicksmart product range.
With advice and support from Entrepreneurs' Programme Innovation Connections Facilitator, Scott McNeil, Smartstream's General Manager Chamindika Konara identified a pathway to develop an interactive training tool for sharps safety management.
Solution
An app was developed that provides an engaging learning experience and integrates with existing processes. Its developer did this by incorporating the best clinical training methods, gaming principles and an iterative testing process.
In July 2020, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews launched the Qlicksmart Digital Platform, a major aspect being the Interactive Sharps Safety Training App.
Smartstream can now train and educate consumers on their medical safety products. This has led to new market access, increased competitiveness, business transformation, job creation and upskilling.
"The team at Innovations Connections have been fantastic to work with and this program has made a real difference to us as an Australian medical device company, to be competitive globally."
— Chamindika Konara, Smartstream General Manager
