With the rapid increase in lithium batteries used globally, a significant waste problem will exist at the end of their life. Currently, technology only allows for the recovery of lithium resources as low-value LiOH or Li2CO3 salts. However, high-value materials such as LiPF6 are utilised in battery manufacture and operation. Our extraction technology allows for the recovery of high-value electrolyte materials. The technology can be adopted to existing battery recycling plants or can form the basis of new recycling processes.
