The Australian Government's University Research Commercialisation Action Plan focusses on boosting collaboration between universities and industry and driving commercial returns.
We welcome the opportunity to leverage our experience to help to drive a greater impact across Australia's publicly funded research system.
Trailblazer Universities Program
Through the Trailblazer Universities Program, the Australian Government is supporting four universities to become leaders in research commercialisation and support the six Australian National Manufacturing Priorities.
The program includes a $30 million investment for successful universities to access CSIRO's specialist equipment which can drive the technology readiness level (TRL) and scaling of research to a point where private sector investment is more attractive.
Australia's Economic Accelerator
The Action Plan includes $150 million in support for CSIRO investment in future CSIRO Innovation Funds as part of Australia's Economic Accelerator. Main Sequence welcomes the opportunity to continue to work closely with universities to commercialise Australian research and build Australian companies addressing global challenges.
CSIRO's ON Program has been funded to provide access to Prime and Accelerate modules for teams from Australian universities and their industry collaborators.
Around 100 teams each year for the next four years will access the ON Prime program, with some progressing to the ON Accelerate program.
National Industry PhD Program
The National Industry PhD Program will support PhD candidates to undertake industry-focused research projects and be equipped with the knowledge and skills to better translate university research into commercialisation outcomes, with the strong potential to work at the interface of research and industry, and across the sectors in future. The CSIRO Industry PhD Program is being scaled up as part of the Federal Government's University Research Commercialisation Action Plan.
