Saving lives with an invention to convert dirty water into safe drinking water

Currently around a third of the world’s population does not have access to clean and safe drinking water. As a result, millions die from diseases associated with inadequate water supply, sanitation and hygiene every year. Michael and his team at CSIRO have used their knowledge to invent a new and low-cost way for water to be filtered using a microscopic nanomaterial called Graphene. The technology has the potential to save millions of lives. For Michael that’s the greatest thing about learning and working in STEM – the ability to solve problems and discover new technology that could benefit people across the globe.
