Connect25 - Data61's Student Conference

Students watching robotics demo and posters

Last week, our Data61 and Next Gen students, supervisors, and industry experts came together for Connect25, a dynamic two-day event held online and at three CSIRO sites.

From thought-provoking panel discussions to site tours and student poster sessions, the event was packed with opportunities for our students to learn, share, and connect.

Students showcased their diverse research, exchanged ideas with peers, and built valuable networks with industry experts, paving the way for future research collaborations.

Stay tuned for more events and opportunities in 2026!

My name is Duy Le. I am a PhD Candidate at Data61 CSIRO and Federation University Australia in the Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability. My thesis is toward the development of a neural network-based surrogate model for accelerating simulations of granular materials.

Last year, I had a paper accepted and an opportunity to give presentation about my work at the International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks (ICANN2024) in Switzerland. It was a wonderful chance to meet other researchers around the world working in similar fields and I also met some interesting friends there.

My next plan after finishing PhD is to work in the field of deep learning and computational simulation, could be in academia or industry.
