Applications are now invited from Australian university students and trainers to join the CAPSTAN program in 2026.
CAPSTAN, the Collaborative Australian Postgraduate Sea Training Alliance Network, gives you the opportunity to take your passion for marine science on a deep dive and immerse yourself in the expertise, advanced systems and diverse equipment aboard CSIRO research vessel (RV) Investigator.
This will be a combined application round and offer two voyage opportunities in 2026:
Fully funded berths are available for Australian postgraduate and undergraduate university students. CAPSTAN also provides incredible opportunities for trainers and early career researchers to gain experience at sea and help train Australia's next generation of marine experts. This includes the opportunity for trainers to apply to lead a CAPSTAN voyage as the voyage Chief Scientist.
Don't miss the boat and the opportunity to put your passion into practice at sea!
CAPSTAN partners are committed to diversity and inclusion, and strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.
