NEAC stakeholder newsletter

Hi everyone,

Since the National Energy Analysis Centre launched in July, the team have made incredible progress and we are now welcoming people into the NEAC Living Lab.

We have started work with the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and the RACE for 2030 CRC to bring 1000 NSW residents and 60 small businesses into the Living Lab, to help the state government improve consumer energy programs aimed at helping to reduce energy bills, lower emissions and enhance grid stability across NSW.

We’ve received some great feedback on our Data Explorer, part of the NEAC Systems Science Toolbox. Work is progressing on our first modelling tools, which will support resilience and decarbonisation analyses for Australian multi-energy systems.

We have also been exploring ways that we can collaborate with others around our focus areas of decarbonisation, resilience and equity. For example, we ran a roundtable with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century about energy infrastructure resilience and its intersections with the changing weather due to climate change. As another example, we participated in a workshop run by the Nulungu Research Institute to explore how research can support energy equity in remote communities in the Kimberley.

You may also have observed that the National Energy Analysis Centre team is growing! We recently welcomed Chris Sharman as NEAC Engineering Lead and are now recruiting a Project Manager, a Product Lead and a Systems Engineering Specialist.

Whether you’re already starting to wind down for Christmas or are madly trying to finish tasks (as we are), I wish you a safe and happy holiday period.
