Hi $firstname$,

As we wrap up another big year, we're feeling incredibly grateful for this community.

2025 has been filled with big thinking, generous collaboration and real impact across Australia's research landscape.

Throughout the years, you've helped us support more than 8,500 participants. Together, we've seen over $366M in commercialisation grants secured and $433M in investment capital raised. More than 1,050 jobs have been created by new companies founded by ON alumni.

But beyond the numbers, it's your curiosity, openness, and commitment that continue to bring this community to life.

So as we close out the year, from all of us in the ON team, a heartfelt thank you — especially to our mentors, coaches, facilitators, experts, and alumni. Your time, insight, and generosity continue to shape the ON experience. We simply couldn't do this without you.

We've had many highlights this year, but these are a few moments we're especially proud of:

  • Delivering another successful round of ON Accelerate, along with two rounds of ON Prime — including our first Perth delivery hub in several years
  • Launching the Inclusive Innovation Roadmap & Playbook
  • The ON team being named a finalist in the Government & Public Sector Solution category at the 2025 AIIA Queensland iAwards

As we head into the break, we wish you a restful holiday season and a safe, happy New Year. May you find time to recharge, celebrate your wins (big and small), and enjoy moments with the people who matter most.

We're already looking ahead to 2026. With new teams, new partnerships, and fresh opportunities to champion research translation right across the country.

Thank you for being an essential part of this ever-growing community!

ONwards,
Tennille and the ON Team

Your sneak peek at the ON Accelerate 10 Bootcamp cohort

A large group of people posing together in front of a rustic brick wall with the words “ON Accelerate” projected on it.
CSIRO's ON Accelerate 10 Bootcamp cohort gathered in Sydney in November 2025.

A huge congratulations to the 20 research teams from Australia's publicly funded research organisations who brought incredible energy and ambition to ON Accelerate Bootcamp.

Across three big days, they took part in 228 meetings with investors, industry leaders and commercialisation experts — pressure-testing their ideas and building the networks that move research into the real world.

This milestone brought together some of Australia's brightest researchers and innovators from across the country:

  • Air2Energy (University of Technology Sydney)
  • Aurelion Scientific (University of Sydney)
  • Axcelda (University of Melbourne)
  • BudMore Pty Ltd, an SME based in QLD
  • CareWindow, an SME based in SA
  • Cell&Gene (UNSW)
  • Chromos Laboratories (University of Melbourne)
  • Cristal.AI (CSIRO's Data61)
  • DermAI (University of Melbourne)
  • Dronergy (Macquarie University)
  • ENERGY DIVERSIONS (University of Newcastle)
  • Hydro Harvester (University of Newcastle)
  • Multifunctional Microneedle Applicator (University of the Sunshine Coast)
  • opendata.studio (UNSW)
  • PredicTx Health (University of Melbourne)
  • PRIORI_ON (PrioriAnalytica), an SME based in SA
  • Sprout Materials, an SME based in SA
  • CO2BUILT (Western Sydney University)
  • The Joey (Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI)
  • Verdant-ion (CSIRO Manufacturing)

From this highly competitive round, 12 teams have now been selected to progress into the Immersion stage of ON Accelerate. The standard this year has been exceptional, and every team is leaving Bootcamp with sharper thinking and stronger connections.

Their progress has been incredible to watch, and we're excited for what’s ahead. Stay tuned for the official announcement of our Cohort 10 teams.

Highlights from the 2025 Indigenous Australian Datathon

Participants gathered together for the 2025 Indigenous Australian Datathon

This year, ON was proud to play a small but meaningful supporting role as a sponsor of the 2025 Indigenous Australian Datathon — an event that brings together data practitioners, researchers, community leaders and innovators to create solutions that deliver real value for First Nations communities.

Why we want the ON community to know about it

IAD is a powerful example of community-led innovation in action. It reflects many of the principles we champion across ON, and there is so much our network can both learn from and contribute to:

  • Insights into how data and research translate into real, community-driven impact
  • Opportunities to collaborate with practitioners, Elders, policy leaders and impact-focused teams
  • A space to listen, learn and build more culturally informed approaches to innovation
  • New partnerships and pathways beyond the lab

Pre-register for IAD 2026

If you're interested in being part of next year's event - as a participant, observer or collaborator - pre-registrations are now open. Head to the IAD website to join the list and stay updated as details are released.

A huge thank you to the IAD organisers and the incredible community behind the event. We loved being involved, and we're grateful for the opportunity to support such important work.
