Hi $firstname$,

This month, we're proud to share something that sits at the heart of who we are as a community - the Inclusive Innovation Roadmap and Playbook, a practical guide to help our community create more powerful innovation systems.

Through delivering the ON Program, we see firsthand how Australia's research translation ecosystem is shaped and the opportunities we have to help it grow. Earlier this year, we partnered with the Global Institute for Women's Leadership (GIWL) and the Wiyi Yani U Thangani Institute for First Nations Gender Justice (WYUT) to conduct an independent evaluation of the ON Program and our wider community.

Our goal was to understand how we as a community can strengthen our diversity, equity and inclusion impact, and the findings across the innovation ecosystem are clear.

Inclusive teams are:

  • 10 x more innovative
  • 8 x more likely to collaborate effectively, and
  • 6 x more likely to report positive mental health.

Australia's innovation potential is enormous and when diverse voices are part of the journey, we don't just create new ideas - we create better ones. The Inclusive Innovation Playbook and Roadmap give us practical, evidence-based tools for research teams, programs and funders embed inclusion into the way we innovate and grow.

Read about the launch at the KCA Annual Conference in Adelaide below, download, share and use the Playbook and Roadmap to help strengthen Australia's capacity to solve its biggest challenges, together! When more people are part of shaping our future, everyone benefits.

ONwards,

Tennille and the ON Team

PS: Don't miss the ON Prime 18 Showcases kicking off this week across Australia! 🎉 You’ll find all the details under ON the Radar.

We're also celebrating two incredible ON team members - ON Prime lead Richelle McNae, a finalist for the Pearcey Rising Star Award at the 2025 CICTA Awards, and our Communications and Marketing lead Laura Jiew, a finalist for Digital Marketer of the Year at the 2025 Women in Digital Awards. If you spot them at a Showcase event, make sure to cheer them on!

The Inclusive Innovation Roadmap and Playbook Launch 🌏

Two speakers sit on stage in front of a large screen displaying the text: “Your voice, decisions, and daily actions shape who gets to participate in innovation.” Audience members seated at round tables listen attentively during the Inclusive Innovation Roadmap & Playbook event hosted by CSIRO’s ON Innovation Program.

The KCA Annual Conference in Adelaide brought together leaders from universities, research organisations and industry to explore how collaboration and commercialisation are shaping Australia's innovation future. With this year's theme Navigating Change: Innovation, Translation and Impact, it was the perfect stage to launch the Inclusive Innovation Playbook and Roadmap.

Designed for anyone shaping Australia's innovation ecosystem - from researchers and startups to program leaders and funders - the Inclusive Innovation Playbook and Roadmap provide practical tools to embed diversity, equity and inclusion into the way we innovate.

Whether you're leading a lab, running an accelerator or making funding decisions, it offers evidence-based strategies, checklists and examples to help create environments where everyone can contribute and thrive.

By using it, individuals and organisations can strengthen collaboration, unlock new ideas and ensure Australia's innovation future reflects the diversity of its people.
