Welcome to the August edition of Next Gen Connect, the quarterly newsletter for CSIRO’s Next Generation Graduates Program. Here you’ll find the latest program news, student achievements, upcoming events and opportunities from across our community.
NGGP student Tom Marsland has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship and has commenced his research placement in the United States at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Wyss Institute at Harvard University. His research will explore how artificial intelligence can be applied to accelerate antibiotic discovery.
Recognising academic excellence and leadership, the Fulbright Scholarship provides opportunities to collaborate and advance research with leading institutions internationally. We wish Tom all the best for his time in the US and look forward to hearing about his experience when he returns.
Hi everyone, I am delighted to join the Next Gen Graduates Program at CSIRO as the Learning and Student Experience Designer, which means I will be responsible for the coursework delivery and online learning.
I have a background in digital communications and am an online learning specialist, and have worked in the higher education sector for many years, most recently at the Australian National University. I am really passionate about designing engaging and inclusive online learning experiences for students, and I am excited to do this with the NGGP cohorts. I wish a program like this had existed when I was completing my PhD!
I am originally from Toronto, Canada, but have lived in Ngunnawal country in Canberra for many years now. Outside of work, I am a film and TV fanatic and love bushwalking with my two dogs.
If you have news, events or updates you'd like featured in an upcoming issue, email ScholarshipsNextGenGrad@csiro.au, we'd love to hear from you!
