CSIRO Industry PhD Program
Welcome to our newsletter sharing updates and opportunities for universities, industries and prospective PhD students.
The CSIRO Industry PhD Program brings together an industry partner, CSIRO, and an Australian university to co-develop and co-support an industry-focused PhD project.
We are excited to announce the approval of approximately 50 projects from the February to May 2023 application round commencing this year.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new partners. We look forward to working with you on creating impact through industry-relevant research.
We are currently looking for students for an immediate start with more opportunities to be added to our scholarships page over the next few months. If you know of any student who might be interested in considering the CSIRO Industry PhD Program, please share with your networks.
Our next intake for university, CSIRO, and industry partners to submit formal applications for new projects is now open and will close 23 August 2024. These projects are expected to start early 2025.

One of the key features of the CSIRO Industry PhD is its embedded training program for iPhD students covering approximately 20 training days across four years.
CSIRO’s hallmark program, ON Launch Camp for iPhD will be held across three cities in June. This two-day hands-on workshop has been tailored for our cohort. It shows students how to incorporate an industry-focus in their research by creating an impact framework for their research projects. Current supervisors will be invited to attend the second day of the workshop in-person to work with their students to advance the value proposition. At the end, students will have the opportunity to showcase the impact of their research.
