This NSW Skills for Net Zero internship is with Endeavor Energy. The initiative is proudly funded by the NSW Government and delivered by CSIRO.
At Endeavour Energy, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the evolving energy sector, contributing to innovative projects that support the shift to a smarter, more flexible, low-carbon electricity network.
Supported by experienced professionals, you’ll work on real-world initiatives involving electric vehicles, solar energy, community batteries, and data analytics, helping to deliver reliable, sustainable energy to customers.
You’ll contribute to impactful projects focused on energy system flexibility, electrification, and community energy, including:
- Flexible Connections for EV Charging: You’ll assist with documentation and attend meetings with engineers to support the design and proof-of-concept development for commercial EV charger sites.
- Community Battery Feasibility Studies: You’ll contribute to site selection and analysis using tools like KNIME, FME, and Excel to support data workflows and feasibility assessments.
- Substation Data Analysis: You’ll work with time-series data to assess battery integration opportunities, primarily using SQL, with opportunities to apply Python or other tools.
- Commercial Solar Data Insights: You’ll help analyse solar data to support customer recruitment into new product offerings, including building dashboards and preparing insights for internal stakeholders.
- Smart Meter Analytics and Network Modelling: You’ll assist in applying smart meter data to inform energy planning and develop smarter solutions.
You’ll also develop professional skills through:
- Report writing and presentation preparation to communicate your findings
- Team discussions and project briefings
- Workshops on communication, networking, and presenting with impact
Work arrangements
- Start Date: Monday, 1 December
- Duration: 12 weeks, full-time (Christmas period negotiable)
- Schedule: 9-day fortnight (approximately 400 hours total)
- Pay: $25.50 per hour plus superannuation paid as part-time employment
- Location: Parramatta office
- Travel: Occasional travel between sites may be required (e.g., visits to depots depending on your base location). A driver's licence is helpful but not essential.
Desired capabilities
- Currently studying Engineering (Electrical, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy) or Data and Statistical Sciences)
- Strong interest in the energy industry and clean energy transition
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering or energy systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to follow safety and compliance standards
- Intermediate written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting findings
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Applicants must:
- Be in their penultimate or final year of study in a relevant qualification at Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor, or Honours level, with a current credit-average or higher
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident currently residing in New South Wales and able to enter an employment contract
- Meet general selection criteria at the application stage, including communication skills, aptitude, and attitude
- Not be an existing employee or intern (paid or unpaid) of the host organisation they are applying to
- Be willing to provide feedback on their placement experience
