Connect with our delegates at COP30 to explore opportunities in climate research and innovation

In 2025, CSIRO plans to send two senior leaders to support Australia's presence at COP30.

Chris Chilcott from the Environment Research Unit and Michael Robertson from Agriculture & Food will support government representatives on science focussed panels and stakeholder sessions. Chris Chilcott will also support DAFF at a pre-COP meeting in Brasília – the Global Climate-Smart Agriculture Conference 2025.

Over the two-week event, CSIRO plans to be involved in partner-led events across pavilions hosted by multiple countries, including:

  • Providing a keynote address to the Australian Pavilion's Harnessing Advanced Weather Modelling for Climate-Resilient Agriculture panel (Mike Robertson)
  • Showcasing our Darwin Living Lab research in a Canadian Pavilion panel on Building Climate Resilience with Nature-based Solutions (Chris Chilcott)
  • Participating in the Brazilian Agri-zone's panels on:
  • Healthy soils: Delivering food security through climate-smart and sustainable agriculture; and
  • Sustainable Food Systems in a Changing Climate (Mike Robertson)

Meanwhile Senior Indigenous Facilitator for the CSIRO-led NESP Climate Systems Hub, Damian Morgan-Bulled, has been funded via Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation to attend COP30 through DCCEEW COP30 Underrepresented Groups Travel Support Program. Damian will attend as a representative of the Yorta Yorta Nation.

As representatives from Australia's national science agency, Chris, Michael and Damian look forward to exchanging insights and fostering collaboration.
