About the placement

This internship is with Cougar Group and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

You will work with an experienced team, contributing to identifying opportunities for improving processes and efficiencies on the Manufacturing floor. You will work to understand the manufacturing process, from storage through to assembly and quality assurance. You will look for opportunities to suggest improvements, using your experience in 3D design and CAD to design solutions that will help optimise processes.

As you collaborate with experienced engineers, you will gain valuable project management experience, taking full ownership over one aspect of the larger manufacturing process from design to build.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: end March
  • Working arrangement: Full Time or Part time for 200 hours on a fixed term contract
  • Remuneration: $25 per hour plus superannuation on a temporary contract with Cougar Group
  • Location: 12-14 Martin Drive Tomago NSW 2322 (30 minutes from Newcastle)

Desired capabilities

  • Studying a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with 3D design and modelling
  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo
  • Interest in Manufacturing
  • Interest in optimisation of processes

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
