About the placement

This internship is with Emergent Group and is facilitated by the CSIRO's Generation STEM Links program.

Emergent Group is looking for an intern to design and build interactive Power BI dashboards that transform finance and business data into actionable insights. This project will support internal decision-making and client reporting across sectors such as energy, industry, infrastructure, and agriculture. Key tasks would include collaborating with engineers and administration staff to understand data sources and reporting needs, the development of dynamic Power BI dashboards, and creating visualisations that highlight trends, anomalies, and performance metrics.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: ASAP.
  • Working arrangement: Part-time for 200 hours.
  • Remuneration: $31.25 + super on a casual contract with Emergent Group.
  • Location: Mayfield West, Newcastle, NSW (some remote work may be accommodated).

Desired capabilities

  • A STEM interest with experience in data analytics, computer science or engineering.
  • Experience working with PowerBI, Excel and data storytelling are highly valued.
  • High level problem solving and communication skills.
  • Organisation skills with the ability to plan and prioritise when working across different teams.
  • Good listener.

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
