About the placement

This internship is with The Missing Link and is facilitated by the CSIRO's Generation STEM Links program.

This internship offers a hands-on introduction to the world of IT support. No prior experience or technical knowledge is required, just a proactive mindset and a strong desire to learn.

During the internship, you'll be supported with personal mentoring and coaching to help you gain a solid understanding of IT support and develop skills that will serve you well in any future role in the IT sector.

As an Intern with The Missing Link, you will learn how to:

  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Create and remove user accounts.
  • Build and deploy computers to meet client requirements.
  • Respond to clients' IT-related alerts and resolve their technical issues.
  • Triage and assign incoming tickets through our ticketing system.
  • Solve "Fast Track" tickets (common, well documented requests) for clients.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and technical support over phone and email.
  • Deliver IT support best practices (ITIL V4)

Work arrangements

  • Start date: mid-December 2025
  • Working arrangement: 13 weeks – 2 days per week, with the possibility for further employment
  • Remuneration: $31.25/hour plus super on a casual employment contract with The Missing Link
  • Location: North Sydney, NSW

Desired capabilities

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Strong passion for technology and an eagerness to learn.
  • Good written and verbal, including excellent phone manner under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Logical problem-solving skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred but not essential

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
