About the placement

Enacon Group is a leading provider of electrical infrastructure services in Australia, delivering modern electrical networks that support essential energy distribution and renewable energy connections such as solar farms and battery storage.

Enacon is seeking a skilled Application Developer to transform an Excel-based quoting tool into a scalable, standalone application for the electrical construction industry. The tool will enable users of varying technical backgrounds to input project details, select components (e.g. transformers, poles, connectors), and automatically generate accurate bills of materials.

This project is a key step in Enacon's mission to streamline quoting for electrical works on the Essential Energy network- reducing waste, minimising errors, and accelerating project delivery.

At Enacon, you'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team that values innovation, continuous learning, and practical solutions. If you're passionate about developing software that drives real-world engineering outcomes and contributes to sustainable infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

  • Translate the Excel tool into a user-friendly, scalable application.
  • Design an intuitive interface for component selection and material list generation.
  • Learn and understand materials required for electrical construction to ensure software accuracy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and present progress and insights.

Provide clear reports on application performance, user adoption, and areas for improvement.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: As soon as possible (flexible)
  • Working arrangement: Full time 200 hours on a fixed term contract during the holidays, with the possibility for further employment for the right candidate. Part time available if fitting for the candidate.
  • Remuneration: Temporary part-time position at $25 per hour plus superannuation
  • Location: 17 Wembley Pl, Kelso NSW 2795

Desired capabilities

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Systems Engineering, or related fields.
  • Interest or background in electrical systems or construction to understand relevant workflows.
  • Strong development skills, proficient in Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Experience in UI/UX design for creating intuitive applications targeting non-technical users.
  • A driver's licence (a vehicle would be provided for any travel required for work)

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
