This NSW Skills for Net Zero internship is with Endeavor Energy. The initiative is proudly funded by the NSW Government and delivered by CSIRO.
As an Intern with Endeavour Energy, you’ll play a key role in supporting their mission to power communities for a brighter, low-carbon future. This placement offers an opportunity to explore the emerging field of carbon avoidance and its role in community climate action.
You’ll be tasked with reviewing and assessing Endeavour Energy’s current community programs and climate initiatives, focusing on how these efforts contribute to carbon avoidance. This includes evaluating initiatives such as community batteries, EV charging infrastructure, and solar programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing key program documents, including carbon avoidance methodology deliverables
- Working with Excel-based models developed to estimate community benefits
- Analysing program performance data, including customer energy use, emissions data, survey results, financial savings, and uptake rates and writing a report
You’ll also develop professional skills through:
- Report writing and presentation preparation to communicate your findings
- Team discussions and project briefings
- Workshops on communication, networking, and presenting with impact
Work arrangements
- Start Date: Monday, 1 December
- Duration: 12 weeks, full-time (Christmas period negotiable)
- Schedule: 9-day fortnight (approximately 400 hours total)
- Pay: $25.50 per hour plus superannuation (paid as part-time or full-time employment)
- Location: Parramatta office
- Travel: Occasional travel between sites may be required (e.g., visits to depots depending on your base location). A driver's licence is helpful but not essential.
Desired capabilities
- Currently studying Environmental and Sustainability Sciences or Engineering (Electrical, Renewable Energy), or similar
- Strong interest in the energy industry and clean energy transition
- Ability to conduct research and analyse data, especially related to carbon avoidance and climate action
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to follow safety and compliance standards
- Intermediate written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting findings
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Applicants must:
- Be in their penultimate or final year of study in a relevant qualification at Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor, or Honours level, with a current credit-average or higher
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident currently residing in New South Wales and able to enter an employment contract
- Meet general selection criteria at the application stage, including communication skills, aptitude, and attitude
- Not be an existing employee or intern (paid or unpaid) of the host organisation they are applying to
- Be willing to provide feedback on their placement experience
