About the placement
This NSW Skills for Net Zero internship is with Winning Appliances. The initiative is proudly funded by the NSW Government and delivered by CSIRO.
As an intern working at Winnings, you will develop a strong foundation in sustainability and business transformation within a large organisation. You will gain practical research and analysis skills, including evaluating sustainable practices, carbon reduction strategies, and circular economy initiatives. Also, you will build stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities through liaising with sustainable vendors and internal teams.
The intern will strengthen their ability to create actionable sustainability roadmaps, working with decarbonisation strategies such as carbon capture, embodied carbon, future energy systems, and sustainable logistics. They will also develop skills in supply chain transparency, including screening suppliers for ethical and sustainable practices.
In addition, the intern will enhance their project planning and reporting skills, learning how to turn research into practical recommendations. Exposure to neuroscience-informed wellbeing initiatives will broaden their understanding of how people and culture influence sustainability. Overall, the placement will provide valuable experience in applied sustainability, ethical sourcing, innovation in recycling and logistics, and corporate responsibility strategies, equipping the intern with skills highly relevant to the future of business and sustainability leadership.
