About the placement
This NSW Skills for Net Zero internship is with Advitech. The initiative is proudly funded by the NSW Government and delivered by CSIRO.
This internship supports decarbonisation in the mining and agriculture sectors through remote monitoring technologies such as AI-powered noise monitoring, weather stations, and video systems. These solutions reduce emissions by minimising site travel, improving resource efficiency, and enabling data-driven environmental management aligned with ESG and Net Zero targets. You’ll also help promote our new product, SureWaste, which reduces healthcare waste and Scope 3 emissions. This internship will help us penetrate new markets with products that help businesses achieve net zero ambitions.
Key activities include:
- Conduct market research on decarbonisation and environmental technologies
- Analyse competitors’ positioning on Net Zero and ESG
- Identify stakeholders and customer segments with sustainability commitments
- Research market and policy trends related to energy efficiency, reduced operational emissions, water stewardship, digital monitoring, and climate reporting obligations
- Map how remote monitoring supports decarbonisation pathways
- Assist in developing pricing and promotion strategies highlighting Net Zero benefits
- Prepare summaries and impact statements showcasing sustainability outcomes
Wok arrangements
- Start date: Late February (flexible)
- Working arrangement: Part-time for 200 hours
- Remuneration: $25 per hour plus superannuation
- Location: Remote working available, ideally with several visits to Mayfield West, NSW (flexible)
Desired capabilities
- Studying environmental science, sustainability, business, economics, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in stakeholder and competitive analysis, particularly in sustainability, ESG, or environmental technology markets.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High level of computer literacy, including MS Office applications and data management systems.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a small team environment.
- Interest in decarbonisation, environmental technologies, ESG, and Net Zero pathways within the mining and agriculture sectors
Applicants must
- Be in their penultimate or final year of study in a relevant qualification at Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor, or Honours level, with a current credit-average or higher
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident currently residing in New South Wales and able to enter an employment contract
- Meet general selection criteria at the application stage, including communication skills, aptitude, and attitude
- Not be an existing employee or intern (paid or unpaid) of the host organisation they are applying to
- Be willing to provide feedback on their placement experience
