About the placement
This NSW Skills for Net Zero internship is with Calumino. The initiative is proudly funded by the NSW Government and delivered by CSIRO.
As an intern working at Calumino, you will contribute to projects focused on improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions through intelligent sensing and data‑driven analysis. Activities will include supporting data capture from real‑world systems, data annotation, and the operation and improvement of internal data pipelines used for analytics and optimisation. The intern may also assist with software or embedded firmware tasks related to data collection, validation, and system testing. Work will support the development and evaluation of sensing and analytics workflows that enable more efficient operation of monitored systems.
Work arrangements
- Start date: late May
- Working arrangement: Part-time (ideally 3 days a week)/ Full time for 200 hours
- Remuneration: Casual contract $31.19 per hour plus superannuation
- Location: in person - Unit 22, 39 Herbert St, St Leonards NSW 2065
Desired capabilities
- Currently studying an Engineering/STEM degree which provides basic programming or scripting skills
- Interest in data capture, data annotation and data processing
- Familiar with AI and LLM but not limited to cloud AI
- Ability to work with structured technical workflows, strong attention to detail and ability to document work clearly
- Critical thinker, team player and eagerness to learn
- Be able to work safely with computers and electronic equipment and may involve handling lightweight equipment. Reasonable adjustments can be made to support your safety.
Applicants must:
- Be in their penultimate or final year of study in a relevant qualification at Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor, or Honours level, with a current credit-average or higher
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident currently residing in New South Wales and able to enter an employment contract
- Meet general selection criteria at the application stage, including communication skills, aptitude, and attitude
- Not be an existing employee or intern (paid or unpaid) of the host organisation they are applying to
- Be willing to provide feedback on their placement experience
