About the placement

This NSW Skills for Net Zero internship is with H Nu Pty Ltd. The initiative is proudly funded by the NSW Government and delivered by CSIRO.

As an intern working at H Nu Pty Ltd, you will be helping to develop optical tests for characterising optical components, building test jigs and carrying out tests. You will develop your skills in optical assembly, measurement and testing as well as deepening your report writing skills and 3D design.

If you are looking for a desk job, this is probably not the right job for you. If you love building things, pulling them apart and figuring out how they work and how to make them work better, then you’ll fit right in. Please don’t send in AI application responses (they all look the same) but do tell us about something you’ve made and the problems you solved (it doesn’t need to be particularly academic).

Work arrangements

  • Start date: towards the end of June
  • Working arrangement: Full time, in person, during the winter break and then part time to complete the 200 hours
  • Remuneration: casual/part time contract with H Nu Pty Ltd - $38 per hour plus superannuation. Potential of contract extension for the right candidate.
  • Location: Unit 3, 68 Railway Crescent, Lisarow, 2250.

NB: This site is located near to Lisarow train station and is approx. 1 hour drive from Sydney or Newcastle.

  • Studying Physics
  • Interest in optical and sensor technology
  • Strong experimental background.
  • Strong physics and mathematics understanding.
  • Experience with Python or similar programming languages

Applicants must:

  • Be in their second or later year of study in a relevant qualification at Bachelor, or Honours level, with a current credit-average or higher
