About the program

Capability Enhancer involves cycles of targeted collaborations with STEM education allies, supporting capability to contribute to, share, and learn from the evidence base to improve participation and retention in STEM education and careers.

'Collaborators' work with CSIRO in to deepen their understanding of what works in their programs, improve how they measure impact, and co-design evidence-based tools and processes to share back to the STEM education ecosystem.

The opportunity

Approximately every six months, applications open to become Capability Enhancer Collaborators. Selected organisations enter into a formal agreement with CSIRO to work through a supported, collaborative process to strengthen internal evidence capabilities and contribute practical insights, tools, or frameworks for use across the sector.

Our first round of Collaborators are:

  • Australian Academy of Science
  • Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute
  • UNSW/CURIOUS

Program eligibility

Our collaborators need to:

  • have a base in Australia
  • be a STEM education/learning program provider, working with students or through educators, parents, STEM professionals, or communities
  • aim to increase participation or retention in STEM education and/or careers
  • have an interest in using evidence to improve STEM education outcomes.
  • be able to enter into a Collaboration Agreement with CSIRO to work together to build evidence capability and share the learnings with the STEM education ecosystem

*Note that organisations Australia-wide are welcome to apply but those who deliver wholly or partly in New South Wales may be given higher priority.
