About the placement
This internship is with BTF, a bioMérieux company and is facilitated by the CSIRO's Generation STEM Links program.
BTF provides the world's most precise quantitative reference standards for microbiological testing. Its patented BioBall™ technology is used in quality assurance, to verify the performance of control methods.
The BioBall process which manufactures certified reference materials for the pharmaceutical and food industries worldwide is undergoing a re-design to update the process. The re-designed process requires significant validation and verification plans prior to implementation. As an intern with BTF, you will support the team and contribute to improving efficiencies during the validation program, requiring new stability testing regimes to be explored. This project will be involved in testing prototype product dispensed by a new robotic dispenser by plating on agar, colony counting, conducting accelerated stability testing and accurate record keeping. Presenting and analysis of data may also be required.
Work arrangements
- Start date: ASAP
- Working arrangement: Full time or Part time for 200 hours on a fixed term contract, with the possibility for further employment for the right candidate. The candidate will be required to attend on two consecutive days in the week.
- Remuneration: $25/hour plus super on a temporary contract with BTF, a bioMérieux company
- Location: North Ryde, NSW.
Desired capabilities
- Studying Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and/or Pharmaceutical Sciences (Or similar)
- Prior laboratory experience with aseptic technique, pipetting, plating microbes, and colony counting is advantageous (Physical containment class 2 laboratory experience is advantageous)
