About the placement

This internship is with Emergent Group and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

As an intern working at Emergent Group, the student will be tasked with designing and prototyping an exciting and attractive lighting system to help market a new industrial product. The project combines creativity with technical design and will likely involve experimentation with LED lighting techniques or other innovative methods to create an attention-grabbing, robust, and low-power lighting setup.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Working arrangement: Part-time for 200 hours
  • Remuneration: $31.25 on a casual contract with Emergent Group
  • Location: Mayfield West, Newcastle, NSW (some remote work may be accommodated)

Desired capabilities

  • A background in electrical, mechatronics, or computer engineering is advantageous, although students from other disciplines who have a creative flair and relevant experience working with electronics and hardware are also encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues.
  • Attention to Detail – Important for both the aesthetic and technical aspects of the lighting system.

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
