About the placement

This internship is with Calumino and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team and support Calumino’s engineering team on the development and validation of intelligent sensing and analytics systems. Activities may include data capture from real‑world systems, data annotation, and support of internal data pipelines, as well as assisting with embedded firmware or software development, testing, and documentation. Projects are scoped to be achievable within the internship period while contributing to real engineering outcomes and production workflows.

This opportunity will allow you to gather insight into where a career in system engineering can take you, and gain experience working in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: late May
  • Working arrangement: Part time (ideally 3 days per week) for 200 hours on a fixed term contract
  • Remuneration: $31.19/hour plus superannuation on a casual contract with Calumino
  • Location: in person - Unit 22, 39 Herbert St, St Leonards NSW 2065

Desired capabilities

  • Studying STEM degree which includes basic programming or scripting
  • Interest in data capture, data annotation and data processing workflows
  • Ability to follow structured technical processes and document work clearly
  • Attention to detail and willingness to work with real‑world data
  • Ability to work independently with guidance from engineers
