For more than 70 years we have worked collaboratively in bushfire research, from understanding and modelling the impact of bushfires on the environment to post-fire assessments and improving infrastructure design.

We've performed post-bushfire surveillance and research in every major fire event in Australia since the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires.

On this page you can access our latest bushfire news, feature articles, and multimedia.

Take a deep dive into our research here.

Our experts

Justin Leonard

Research Leader - Bushfire Adaptation

Justin Leonard's research aims to grow our understanding of how bushfire risk to life and infrastructure can be managed and is available for media comment. His media contact is Amy Edwards.

Dr Andrew Sullivan

Bushfire Behaviour and Suppression Team

Andrew is the leader of the CSIRO Bushfire Behaviour and Suppression team, which is internationally recognised as a leader in the field of bushfire behaviour prediction and firefighter safety science. Dr Sullivan is available for media comment and his media contact is Amy Edwards.

Dr Michael Grose

Senior Research Scientist (Environment)
