The free two-day forum and exhibition will take place on 2-3 October at Sydney’s Carriageworks, and will host the release of new research and developments in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, privacy, robotics, and data-driven infrastructure.
This year’s theme, Intelligence Amplified, will explore the rise of artificial intelligence, how collaboration and collective intelligence across the innovation ecosystem enables large-scale impact and is set to attract over 2,000 visitors.
A recent report from Alphabeta [pdf · 19mb]found that the Australian tech sector could be contributing $207 billion a year to the economy by 2030 if it catches up to global leaders. As it stands, spending on research and development in Australia lags behind other OECD nations, including Israel and South Korea. D61+ LIVE aims to mobilise industry, government and academia to invest in science and technology, at this critical time for the future prosperity of the country.
“Our global economic outlook is definitely challenged according to the International Monetary Fund but science, technology and innovation have enormous potential to lift productivity and create a competitive advantage for Australia,” David Thodey AO, CSIRO’s Chair said.
“D61+ LIVE is an opportunity to hear local and international experts interrogate tech trends, discuss solutions and hone in on the rise of artificial intelligence to propel the future of research and development forward.”
D61+ LIVE will examine the cutting-edge data science and technology that is shaping our industries, experiences and society.
International thought leader and strategist, Yaël Eisenstat, will speak at D61+ LIVE, drawing on her 18 years working as a CIA officer, a national security advisor to Vice President Biden and as the Global Head of Elections Integrity Operations at Facebook.
“I'll be exploring who is responsible for the real-world consequences of tech,” Ms Eisenstat said.
“Whether a public servant, elected official, tech entrepreneur, or business leader, we all have a role to play in helping ensure technology is used to better society — or at the very least, to not harm it.”
