Hellers Australia are looking for an intern with skills in engineering and processes to support the deployment of a new piece of Australian first technology within their manufacturing line for value-added meat products. Throughout this project the successful intern will work with the Operations Manager and the Maintenance Team Leader to undertake a ‘deep dive’ into the equipment and how it integrates into the manufacturing line. The student will support the Maintenance Team Leader to monitor the machine’s performance, identify issues, and trouble-shoot / provide recommendations to solve problems (where possible). This internship is a hands-on opportunity to take your engineering knowledge and apply it in real-world industry project.
Work arrangements
- Start date: May / June
- Working arrangement: Flexible / Part time for 200 hours on a fixed term contract, with the possibility of further employment for the right candidate
- Renumeration: $25 per hour plus super
- Location: 12 Marriott Rd, Jandakot WA 6164
- Hours: Flexible days but must be able to accommodate Monday to Friday shift hours (AM shift 5am to 1pm and PM shift is 1pm to 9pm)
Desired capabilities
- High-level understanding of process mapping and optimisation in a manufacturing environment (lean six sigma and/or kaizen knowledge preferred)
- Good skills in problem-solving and data analysis
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands
- Ability to follow direction, work independently, and collaborate as part of a team
- Previous experience in a processing or manufacturing environment will be looked on favourably
Requirements
- Must be currently living in Western Australia
- Must be enrolled in their final year Undergraduate or a Postgraduate University qualification (Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- Must be able to organise own travel to and from site
- Must be able to bend, squat and lift up to 10kgs
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
