For the past decade, we observed artificial intelligence (AI) adoption evolve from a futuristic promise pursued by early adopters with mature technology teams, to a legitimate and rapidly growing priority shared by many C-suite and senior leaders across functions. Australia's AI ecosystem momentum report describes a rapidly transforming AI ecosystem in Australia, where businesses are generating significant new revenue streams and efficiencies using AI technology.

The report on Australia's AI ecosystem momentum shows that our businesses are growth-focused, using AI technologies across the organisation to gain competitive advantage and improve strategic decision-making.

The National AI Centre commissioned Forrester Consulting to prepare the report, which describes how Australian businesses are optimistic about growth in 2023, with technology at the heart of their growth strategies.

Across industries, organisations are continuing to identify new use cases to embed AI technologies and tools.

Our AI ecosystem involves a robust network of ecosystem partners across the AI value chain who are engaged to help navigate AI adoption and maximise benefits. Many respondents report requiring four or more AI service providers to deliver an AI project.

The primary challenges found to be faced by companies adopting AI were privacy, security and data quality, exacerbated by talent shortages in Australia for implementing and operating AI systems.

The report calls on business leaders to develop and deploy responsible AI solutions to ensure accountability and to mitigate the risk of unintended consequences.
