Athena SWAN has been successfully advancing workplace gender equity and inclusiveness in science and technology organisations in the United Kingdom for over a decade.
SAGE at CSIRO has been an exemplar of broad and deep consultation and collaboration, with hundreds of staff across all functional areas and levels of seniority involved in identifying key challenges and developing CSIRO's SAGE Action Plan.
CSIRO began implementing its 4-year 90-point SAGE Action Plan in mid-2018. To date:
- 63 per cent of actions are in progress,
- 16 per cent have been completed; and
- 21 per cent will begin over the course of the next four years.
CSIRO's SAGE Self-Assessment Team, which is now led by CSIRO's Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley, and Executive for People, Ms Ilona Charles, will continue to meet regularly to oversee implementation of the Action Plan and seek additional ways to advance gender equity at CSIRO.
CSIRO thanks its peers at SAGE for recognition of its deep commitment toward gender equity.
