Find out more about the individual greenhouse gas budgets
Global carbon budget
Carbon dioxide is the most significant greenhouse gas contributing to human-induced global warming. The Global Carbon Project’s global carbon budget provides detailed information about the sources and sinks of carbon dioxide worldwide. CSIRO works with many international partners to develop the budget annually.
Global methane budget
Emissions of methane, a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon dioxide, are rising at an accelerating rate. The Global Carbon Project’s global methane budget details the sources and sinks of this important greenhouse gas. CSIRO works with many international partners to develop the budget every second year.
Global nitrous oxide budget
Nitrous oxide in the atmosphere contributes to global warming as well as depleting the ozone layer. The Global Carbon Project’s global nitrous oxide budget presents an inventory of the sources and sinks of nitrous oxide. The budget is developed by an international team, which includes CSIRO.
Hubs could help pave the net zero way for Western Australia
Carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) hubs could help realise Western Australia’s goal of a low carbon future as it transitions from fossil fuels.
