Our telescopes and capabilities

ASKAP radio telescope

Our newest radio telescope, ASKAP is designed for doing fast, comprehensive, and detailed surveys of the southern sky.

Murriyang, our Parkes radio telescope

Parkes Observatory, just outside the central-west NSW town of Parkes, hosts Murriyang our 64-metre Parkes radio telescope.

Australia Telescope Compact Array

Made up of six identical antennas, the Compact Array is used by astronomers to study the structure and evolution of our Universe.

Long Baseline Array

The Long Baseline Array includes the ATNF telescopes, as well as the Mopra radio telescope, and the Hobart and Ceduna antennas operated by the University of Tasmania.
