A colourful map showing the arrangement and structure of green donuts on the seafloor.

The Kongsberg SBP29 is a sub-bottom profiler used to investigate the geological composition beneath the sea floor. It can be operated simultaneously with the multibeam echosounders.

  • Kongsberg SBP29 sub-bottom profiler.
  • Operating frequency: 2-9 kHz.
  • Transmit array: fan of narrow beams across track.
  • Terrain adapted beam steering.
  • Penetrates up to hundreds of meters depending on type of sediments.
