The Regional University Industry Collaboration (RUIC) program masterclass series helps researchers transform great ideas into real-world impact. Whether you're just starting out or looking to strengthen your industry engagement skills, this series supports you to build productive, long-term partnerships with confidence.

This series is part of the RUIC Program which aims to drive innovation and economic growth by facilitating research and development (R&D) collaboration between industry and universities across regional Queensland.

What you'll gain

  • Tools and techniques to engage effectively with businesses
  • Confidence to network and build opportunities with non-academic partners
  • Insights into the challenges and drivers shaping industry
  • Opportunities to connect with peers and potential collaborators.

What the series includes

The masterclass experience is delivered in three stages:

  • Kick-off workshop (face-to-face): An interactive session at your university to set the foundations for successful industry engagement
  • Online learning which includes a series of four focused webinars covering:
    • How to approach and engage with businesses
    • Understanding industry drivers and language: Preparing for productive conversations with SMEs and industry partners
    • Aligning your research with real-world problems
  • Workshop and networking event (face-to-face): A final in-person session to put your learning into practice, followed by a networking event where you'll connect with local businesses and innovation leaders in your region.

The RUIC Masterclass Series is open to researchers at:

  • James Cook University
  • Central Queensland
  • University of Southern Queensland
  • University of the Sunshine Coast
