Our Stage 3 Summary Report and final Stage 3 reports below provide an update on the progress of Australia’s Global Power System Transformation (G-PST) Roadmap which was launched in 2022. In 2025, the GPST initiative evolved and in Australia, now operates under the lead of CSIRO and AEMO as the Australian Research in Power Systems Transition (ARPST).
Development of the Roadmap represented Stage 1 work which outlined a research path across nine key topics on preparing a power system that provides secure and reliable operation during the energy transition to a decarbonised global electrical grid with high penetration of renewables.
The Stage 3 reports contain summaries for each of the appointed research topics to:
- clearly describe progress in the research topic to the end of 2023/2024.
- map this current research within the overall Roadmap for each research topic.
- propose future work for the next round of research scheduled for Stage 4 in Financial Year 2024/25.
These Stage 3 reports will be used to:
- explore opportunities to secure additional funding for expansion of the work into Southeast Asian countries.
- expand research in distributed energy resource (DER) integration as its importance is increasingly internationally recognised.
